Assisi Scramble – Modified – For Amy

September 27 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm UTC-7

Please note, our articles may contain referral or affiliate links.

***This route is not appropriate for first time scramblers.*** We will depart from Kraft Mountain Parking Lot.

Although the first part of the route is a trail, once we reach the canyon, it is almost entirely rock scrambling. The route is mostly Class II with the possibility of a few challenging spots. It will be steep in many areas, and we’ll climb over and across boulder fields along the way. You will need to use hand and footholds to climb up the rock. The features we visit will be based on the size and skill of the group. However, you must be able to pull your body weight up and lower yourself down using your arms.

Helmets are always welcome. Be sure to use one that doesn’t block your sight.

Always carry “in case of emergency” numbers with you.

The route will depend on the group’s skill and speed. We’ll likely descend near Seal Head then take the ridge back to the old campground before heading back to the cars. This route crosses the paths of several other hiking destinations, so parts of this loop may look familiar.

Our speed will be moderate and we will pause for a few moments to catch our breath along the way. You must be able to go fast enough to stay with the group.

For your safety and that of the group: If I don’t know you or if your scrambling experience is not on your VegasHikers profile: Send me a private message with information detailing your scrambling experience, before you signing up. Details means a description of the climbing you’ve done and the people you did it with.

No guests will be allowed. Everyone must be a member of VegasHikers. It only takes a minute to sign up and it’s FREE. Cancellations after 4:30p are considered a “no show.”

We’ll be starting at the Kraft Mountain Parking Area. To get to the trailhead take Charleston West to the Calico Basin turnoff. Follow the pavement until it ends in front of Kraft Mtn, parking lot is on your left.
