Charleston Series: Charleston Peak Loop (AS)
June 29 @ 5:30 am - 5:30 pm UTC-7
Please note, our articles may contain referral or affiliate links.
Please read the whole hike description. Participants will be required to sign a Waiver similar to the Disclaimer below. Masks are not required while hiking but everyone must bring a mask for carpooling which is mandatory since there is a shuttle involved between the two trailheads.
This is the thirteenth and final hike in the Charleston Series (see schedule below).
This hike goes up Trail Canyon to the junction and turns left on the North Loop Trail all the way to Charleston Peak, the highest point in southern Nevada. The trail is breathtaking in places and the views are spectacular. This is a very long hike at high altitude and the culmination of our training over the last six weeks. We will descend the South Loop Trail.
Be sure to bring a windbreaker, warm gloves and hat because it may be cold at the summit and there is always the possibility of thunderstorms.
HIKE QUICK STATS:
Trailhead: Trail Canyon
Distance: 17.5 miles
Elevation Gain: 4,300 feet
Elevation of Peak: 11,918 feet
Difficulty: 5, extremely strenuous
Time: 12 hours (11 hiking plus 1 driving)
Gear: hiking boots – yes; trekking poles – yes
All start on the Waitlist. The reason I became an Organizer is to help people get their cards so priority will only be given to those 52ers who need the card. If you wish to join and become a 52er the day of the hike, please text me at 702-515-9824 several days in advance. If you already have the card, you may be left on the Wait list due to group size limits.
52 Peak Club Information:
If you are a current 52er, the cost of the card is $5. If you want to join the 52 Peak Club, the cost will be $50 to join and $19.97 per month or $5 per card; your choice. Cards will be distributed at the peak. You do NOT have to be a 52er to sign up for this hike but due to group size limits you may be left on the Wait list if you’re not.
Please be respectful of others and be on time or you will be left behind.
Pace: You absolutely need to know your pace and ability levels.
Group Hiking: Always stay with the group and follow the leader.
Safety: Getting everyone through the hike safely is my number one priority.
We will meet in Santa Fe Casino east parking garage 2nd floor section 2F. There are two garages; one is visible from Hwy 95 (that is the wrong garage); the other is near the intersection of Lone Mtn Road and Rancho (that is the correct garage).
If you have any questions, send a message or post a comment. You can also call or text me at 702-515-9824.

I am an outdoor enthusiast who would rather be on a backcountry backpacking trip than a stroll on the beach (although I do love the beach!).
Living in Las Vegas has afforded me the opportunity to easily explore the Southwest region of the United States.
A nature lover, I am often found at the end of the pack taking photos and videos of the wildlife found on the trails. Colorful flowers, desert animals, and unusual geological rock formations are often the majority of my photos.
