Gunsight Notch Peak (4♦️)

October 3 @ 6:45 am - 2:30 pm UTC-7

Please note, our articles may contain referral or affiliate links.

Gunsight Notch Peak offers everything from trail hiking to rock climbing. This hike is more advanced than a “4” level card. You must be able to pull you body weight up a rope and be able to climb class 4. There is one small section on the “standard” route that is Class 4, but we might scramble a little off of the route that will require you to be ready for possibly more Class 4.

Trailhead: Oak Creek
Distance: 6 miles — round trip
Elevation gain: 2,200 feet
Elevation peak: 6,200 feet
Time: 5 to 6 hourss)
Difficulty: 4
Danger level: 4
Class: 4 – one short section
Pace: Moderate with minimal, short breaks.

You will be asked questions when you respond. Please answer all of them or you may be moved to the Not Going list. If you are automatically on the hike, then you will not see the questions. The questions are the same as you have previously acknowledged: “Did you read the description and disclaimer? Are you aware that you are responsible for your own safety and well-being while attending these events?”

Bring at least 2.5 liters of water. It is advisable to bring high energy snacks and a lunch so that you can keep your energy level up.

Pace: You absolutely need to know your pace and ability level compared to your experienced peers.
Group hiking: Always stay with the group
Safety: Getting everyone through the hike safely is the number one priority.
Recommended gear: Sticky rubber approach shoes/boots; climbing helmet; sticky gloves for better grip while on ropes/rocks; first aid kit; extra layers of clothing; headlamp; sun protection (sunglasses, sun-protective cloths, sunscreen, hat that doesn’t impair your sight while hiking); rain jacket. You need to determine what gear is good for you. The list given is a recommendation.

If you are a current 52er, the cost of the cards are $5. If you want to join the 52 Peak Club, the cost will be $50 to join and $19.97 per month or $5 per card. Your choice. You do NOT have to be a 52er to sign up for this hike.
