Fourth of July is a 3-day weekend this year, so we’re going to Great Basin National Park to Camp and Hike.
There are a number of hikes in the Great Basin area, and a few that are outside the area. As always, there will be a few hiking options to choose from.
For this trip I have arranged campsites in Great Basin for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. There is room in the campground for about 25 people. We will have the entire campground loop to ourselves, so we don’t have to worry about any whiny neighbors complaining that we’re talking too loud after 10pm. There are pit toilets, but water is a mile and a half away. The campgrounds have no showers, but there are showers close by.
Camping costs $45, per person for all 3 days. There will be no refunds unless I can arrange for somebody else to take your place. The $45 includes a donation to the pin fund. The pin fund has been depleted due to recent cancelled camping trips because of the virus.
You can pay with cash, check, or bank transfer. Paypal is not accepted. Send a message to arrange payment.
All times and locations will be sent only to those who have confirmed places and have paid. Please do not send me messages asking me the location. I have to keep it secret or we will be overrun with crashers who lurk the website.
There is not a lot of restaurants close by, but there are a few that are in the small town of Baker. The drive to Ely is about an hour where there are many more restaurants available. We’ll be bringing food and cooking in camp, too.
Parking is limited. Priority for parking spaces will be given to those who carpool. If you drive alone, be prepared to park off site.
Proceeds and Donations
All proceeds and donations for this trip will go towards the “pin fund.” As stated above, the fee includes a donation.
Sorry, no pets will be allowed.
If you have questions that have not been answered here, then please send them to me via message, or post your question in the forum below. It’s possible that somebody else has the same question, but doesn’t want to ask, so it will be helpful for everybody.
I am an outdoor enthusiast who would rather be on a backcountry backpacking trip than a stroll on the beach (although I do love the beach!).
Living in Las Vegas has afforded me the opportunity to easily explore the Southwest region of the United States.
A nature lover, I am often found at the end of the pack taking photos and videos of the wildlife found on the trails. Colorful flowers, desert animals, and unusual geological rock formations are often the majority of my photos.
