This is a slight variation to the regular Loop hike around Kraft. This hike does NOT go to the PEAK.
The hike starts at the Trail head at the end of Sandstone Dr. We will begin ascending just to the right of HELL HILL. There is some climbing / scrambling during the first part of the hike. You should possess skills to use your hands and feet to pull your body up while climbing during the first mile of the hike. Once at the saddle we will rest for a short period, hopefully keeping the panting and wheezing to a minimum. The second part of the hike requires some light scrambling and takes you down to the wash on the backside and the last part of the hike is in the wash returning to the parking lot.
This is a perfect hike to build your confidence with scrambling and climbing. You will be challenged but you will not be alone.
Bring: at least 2-3 L of water, electrolyte replenishment, gloves, shoes n socks…
Elevation gain: 900 ft.
Class: 2 to 3
Difficulty: moderate at times during the beginning of the hike.
Danger level: 2
Distance: 3.5 miles
Time: 2 to 3 hours.
Pace: moderate, but no one left behind. This is not a race.
Come out, enjoy a casual Friday afternoon with good company and fresh air.
We enjoy spending our free time leading you all on hikes so please take a minute to rate and comment to let us know if you have enjoyed the hike. Thanks.
