Hellzapoppin Nevada History
A mining district near Las Vegas for which a 50-ton mill was planned in 1940.
The exact location is unknown, but may be the Frenchman Mine on the west side of Frenchman Mountain in the Las Vegas district, east of the city.
Based on the timing, I am assuming that the mining district was named for the popular Broadway comedy popular in the late 1930s, Hellzapoppin’. Coincidentally, one of the entertainers, Harold Ogden “Chic” Johnson, died in Las Vegas in the 1960s.

Speaking of mobile apps, two of my favorite mobile apps for exploring the southwest are two different mapping apps one that builds your schedule and the other helps me look to see if my rural destination is taking me to private or public lands. Highly recommend both!
