Hot Dogs Las Vegas

Hot Dogs Las Vegas

Did you know that July 23rd is National Hot Dog Day and all of July is National Hot Dog Month?

Being in a family where my daughter is a vegetarian and both my kids do not like hot dogs, we do not help make up this statistic so I guess some other household will have to make up our 280 hot dogs for our home.

According to recent survey data obtained by the Council, Americans purchase 350 million pounds of hot dogs at retail stores – that’s 9 billion hot dogs! But the actual number of hot dogs consumed by Americans is probably much larger. It is difficult to calculate the number of hot dogs Americans may eat at sporting events, local picnics and carnivals. The Council estimates Americans consume 20 billion hot dogs a year – more than twice the retail sales figures. That works out to about 70 hot dogs per person each year.

With that said, Bob does like a good vegetarian hot dog. {GASP!} We probably buy 2 – 3 packages from the store a year to keep on hand at home to take to parties and to have around the house for weekends when he wants something quick and easy to make.

Not too many restaurants have a vegetarian hot dog option and the one place that we frequent in Las Vegas is the Great Links restaurant on W. Craig. He also enjoys Buldogis Gourmet Hot Dogs, but it’s a bit of a drive from where we live.

Top Hot Dog Consuming Cities 2013

I was shocked to see that Los Angeles beat out New York for the most hot dogs consumed for 2013. I figured fast-paced life with short lunches would keep the hot dog stands in a constant state of business. Mmmm…. maybe their baseball fans like their hot dogs more?
